The formerly austere office space with outstanding views over the city centre of Bratislava, Slovakia, has been renovated with a spatially unified open plan. The dominant design concept is expressed in the unexpectedly tall ceilings with exposed building infrastructure. The disclosed technology elements laid over the white ceiling background give the interior space a specific fuzzy atmosphere.
Few individual offices and meeting rooms were arranged along the sides of the renovated office interior to define an open central working space that has direct access to the exterior terrace. The interior separations were left transparent, made of the glazed surfaces with subtle metal frames to encourage the uninterrupted panoramic views over the Old Town.
The service and technical spaces were combined into a compact core which forms a box cladded with white-washed particle boards. The solid walls of the inserted box are partially penetrated by the translucent polycarbonate separation which allows for some privacy as it is visually separated from the rest of the open office space. The interior design of the office space is defined by its sober approach to materiality. The exposed building systems on the white-washed ceilings are combined with the white-washed particleboard on the material separation walls. The ash veneer creates a pronounced element which is repeated in the larger pieces of the interior furnishing.
The two meeting rooms can be further visually separated by a curtain. At the entrance, a round table is placed which provides a flexible meeting room for shorter sessions. It could be detached from the surroundings by a round curtain wall to allow a level of privacy.
